The WPA (Works Progress Administration) was launched in the United States in the mid-30s. She hired mainly workers and craftsmen, who were then mostly employed in road construction. In addition, numerous cultural projects have been initiated, especially in the field of theater and music. Unemployed artists and typesetters created numerous campaign posters to promote the activities.

This resulted in a special graphic style, which continued in the post-war period. In the 1950s, this created a particularly colorful, graphic image in the streets of America, which still today enjoys drawing inspiration from graphic artists and designers.

The idea is based on our illustrated book “Art of America”, which was published in 2018.
